An ultrasonic atomizer is a device that atomizes liquids by breaking them into tiny droplets with high frequency ultrasonic vibrations. This process is physically highly efficient, and particle size can be reduced to micron levels. Here is how it works step by step:
1. Generation of Ultrasonic Vibrations:
At the heart of the atomizer is a piezoelectric crystal. This crystal starts to vibrate rapidly when electrical energy is applied to it. The frequency of the vibrations can be between 40 kHz and 120 kHz, depending on the properties and design of the piezoelectric material used.
2. Transmission of Vibrations into Liquid:
The vibrations of the piezoelectric crystal are transferred to the metal plate or head of the atomizer. This head is in contact with the liquid and the vibrations begin to ripple the liquid, breaking it into small droplets. At this stage, the ultrasonic energy passes into the liquid, creating waves on a very small scale.
3. Atomization (Droplet Formation):
The vibrations create very high frequency waves on the surface of the liquid, overcoming the surface tension of the liquid. In this process, the liquid disintegrates into droplets. The ultrasonic atomizer produces these droplets as micron-sized particles. The size of the droplets depends on the frequency of the atomizer and the physical properties of the liquid:
High frequency → Smaller droplets
Low frequency → Larger droplets
4. Dispersion of Droplets:
The formed fine droplets are sprayed onto the desired surface with the help of an air flow or pressurized gas. At this stage, a homogeneous distribution of the droplets is achieved, which is particularly advantageous in thin film coating, medical spray applications and nano-material production.
• Thin Film Coating:
In combination with ultrasonic spray coating systems, it provides homogeneous and high-quality coatings in thin film coating technologies. Widely used in advanced materials applications such as solar cells, fuel cells, perovskite and organic solar panels.
• Flexible Surface Coatings (Textile, Non-woven Fabric, Filter, Membrane):
Provides homogeneous coatings on flexible substrates such as textiles, non-woven fabrics, filters and membranes, offering critical advantages, especially in filtration, textile and medical applications.
• Chemical Synthesis and Materials Science:
The atomizer is used in nanoparticle production, catalyst preparation, and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes to deliver highly efficient results.
• Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology:
Reliable and precise solutions for the atomization and dispensing of drug carriers, nano emulsions, and biotechnological products.
• Food Industry:
Microencapsulation of foods, flavor dispensing and spray drying processes achieve optimum results thanks to the atomizer’s excellent control capability.
• Coating and Inkjet:
In high precision inkjet, coating and surface treatment processes, the atomizer provides homogeneous dispersion with fine particle sizes.
• High Atomization Quality:
The capacity to produce very small particles and homogeneous sprays makes it an excellent choice, especially for thin film coatings and precision applications.
